The standard thickness of most air tracks is 4 inches. You can also get air cushions of 8" and 12". The thicker the air cushion, the more bounce you will get. Most gymnasts will choose a 4" thickness because it most closely resembles the gymnastics floor they are used to practising on.
If you want to use the air track mat for other sports or just for fun, you can get more spring with an 8-inch thickness.
The 12 inch thickness is usually reserved for power tumblers. If you plan to use the air mat at home and you are not a super advanced gymnast or tumbler, I would not go for the 8 or 12 inch thickness. The high bounce creates more risk when doing moves on the aerial rail. If you make a mistake or fall off the side, you could hit a nearby object or land on a hard surface and get hurt.
Where can I use my air track
Air tracks can be used on concrete, carpet, grass, sand, water and snow. Always make sure there is enough space around you before you do anything on the air track.
If you are using the air track on a hard surface such as concrete or cement, it is also recommended that you put a normal gymnastic mat around the air track.
Another suggestion
Another suggestion is to put a tarp or blanket underneath the air mat before using it. This will provide you with extra protection from sharp stones and sticks. If you plan to use the air mattress on water and snow, be sure to pay extra attention to the slipperiness of the air mattress from Kameymall. If you are going to jump off the air track, make sure you have deep enough water underneath you.
