My First Zorbing Experience With My Friend

My friend mentioned to me with a look of excitement, "Have you heard of the zorb ball? It's so exciting and fun." A few days later I was dragged to the zorb ball base at a ski resort in the outskirts of Beijing. Curious about something new and wanting to find a way to have fun, I decided to go and have a look. Later on I couldn't help but feel that the zorb ball was what my friend had been gesturing at for a long time.

What is the zorb ball

The zorb ball is a large air cushioned inflatable zorb ball, made of transparent PVC, with an outer diameter of 3.2 metres and an inner diameter of about 2 metres, filled with air and connected by brightly coloured nylon ropes. Zorbing is a process in which a player goes in through the entrances at either end, secures his arms, legs and body inside the ball and then tumbles down a slightly sloping, straight and flat lawn with the ball. It can be played by 2 people at a time and is usually priced between $30 and $80.

The staff explained the dos and don'ts as they inflated the ball with a blower and stressed the safety and challenge. He explained that the slope was about 110 metres long and moderately steep. I looked at the big ball with its jellyfish-like spread of tentacles and was a little scared. I got into the ball, saw the blue sky and grass beyond, and stared at my friend inside the ball, but I was too nervous to say anything. Once my arms and legs were fixed, the staff outside started pushing the ball and it started to move slowly, my heart was in my throat and my body felt like it was going to lift off before it started to accelerate. Without thinking about it, I started to roll, the sky and ground outside alternating between light and dark, the horizon rising and falling in an instant. At first it was just two forward rolls, but then I couldn't even tell where I was. The thrill of the ride was comparable to that of a roller coaster. I didn't dare to open my eyes, I was already spinning around, and the only thing left in the ball was the screaming of the two of us.
