The Thrill Of Zorbing

Some of you may already know what zorbing is while others may not. But I promise that we will all agree on one thing and that is the joy of zorbing. I will first explain what it is and then you will know why zorbing is full of joy.

What’s zorbing?

Generally speaking, zorbing is about rolling down the mountain in a special transparent sphere, which is usually made of plastic. These giant inflatable balls are called zorb balls or bubble balls and come in different types.

Types

Usually most zorb balls are designed with straps to keep the people in position, while others allow the rider to walk freely inside, or be tossed around by the movement of the ball. Sometimes people may pour some water in so that the rider can slide freely as the inflatable ball rolls downhill. This is called hydro-zorbing. All zorb balls can be used to float on water, but some of them are specially designed for walking on the water and are called water walking balls. There is a kind of smaller zorb ball which is designed for many different activities and sports like bubble soccer or just free running. On most occasions, zorbing is done on gentle slopes for fun. However, it can also be done in a flat area so that the rider can control the sphere more easily. Sometimes different wooden, metal or inflatable ramps are used if there are no slopes around. You can also do it on the water. This is called water walking or water sports. Many theme parks feature this type of entertainment. In addition to this, there are other activities which are derived from zorbing, such as bubble soccer, body zorbing and snow bowling.
