Have you ever seen someone inside a giant bubble ball and tumbling down a slope with it from a high mountain? This process is called zorbing or sphereing and is a very exciting and challenging game. Would you dare to challenge it? I don't think you do. Don't worry, after reading my introduction maybe you will. Back in 1993, two New Zealanders who apparently had a lot of free time decided they wanted to walk on water.
Dwayne van der Sluis and Andrew Akers created a transparent inflatable ball with a compartment inside for riders to use. They did, in fact, walk on the waves. But the inventors soon found that it was difficult to ride the zorb ball at sea, as the waves were sometimes bigger and the sea was too vast. Then they started trying to roll down hills, only to discover by accident that it was actually more fun than swinging around in a pond, and the sport of zorbing was born. Bob Ramshaw, a spokesman for Amesbury Sports Park, said, "It really is a crazy ride." When you roll down, all you see is the ground and the sky, and they alternate with each other. It's a lot of fun."
The zorb ball
The giant sphere in the picture is the modern day the zorb ball. The giant sphere in the picture is 2.5 metres in diameter, and some of them even reach 3 metres. You can clearly see that the giant sphere is made up of two layers of transparent plastic balls, leaving a gap in the middle, filled with air. Don't look at this sphere as a balloon, but since it can carry you around on the ground, it must be highly resistant to wear and tear and punctures, so don't underestimate it.

Think that's all you need to know about it? No, if that's it, you'll feel unsure about it and worry about problems during play. In the next article, we'll explain how it keeps you safe and what you should do.
